Using epigenetics to improve milk yields & animal welfare.

EpiHerd is Antler Bio’s first commercial product which helps milk farms benchmark the performance of their herd and find the underlying factors affecting their animals. Tackling these factors have shown to increase milk yields by 9.1% which in turn has a huge effect on profitability.

The technology is based on epigenetic testing and uncovering signals that mRNA shows about the animals. The key challenge in the design of EpiHerd was how to simplify scientific concepts and present them to farmers in an understandable way.

The first version we launched as a paper report which gave us an opportunity to test how well everything we presented was understood. Later all the learnings were transferred to a web application. I led the design of both phases.

Administering 8M COVID-tests across 10K locations across the US.

Primary.Health is a platform for protecting community health. The company was founded during the pandemic to make it easier for communities to organize COVID testing and immunization at schools, community centers and workplaces.

I helped Primary’s product team design and launch crucial features during a hectic time. This included redesigning and simplifying their admin interface used by nurses and other staff to manage test results and patient flow. Their platform was scaled rapidly to over 10K locations across the US and under the CDPH program over 8M tests were administered.

Verifying information on 320,000 medical providers every quarter.

BetterDoctor helps health plans to fix their data quality and manage their provider data. Inaccurate information leads to patients calling wrong phone numbers, driving to closed clinics and in the worst case, out-of-pocket doctor visits. This makes finding a doctor to visit such a minefield for consumers.

Through the platform we built at BetterDoctor, hospitals and clinics can review and correct their information once and the validated data is dispersed to many participating health plans. I worked as the product manager and lead designer for the provider portal and related tools between 2016 and 2020.

In 2018, BetterDoctor validated over 320,000 medical providers and 120,000 practices every quarter through the validation portal. The company was later acquired by Quest Analytics.

Helping pioneers take ML to places its’ never been with world-class developer tools.

Valohai is an MLOps platform used by startups and enterprises across the globe to streamline how they build machine learning models. The company was among the first to recognize the need for MLOps in the industry – even before the term was coined.

I led Valohai’s growth marketing and later product between 2020 and 2024. One of the core challenges we tackled was how to position ourselves in the market against giants like Amazon’s Sagemaker and Microsoft’s Azure ML. We worked with a leading design agency, Atreo, to define Valohai’s brand strategy and look & feel.

In addition to leading growth, I was very hands-on in designing how our website, ads and other marketing materials evolved over time. Valohai’s bold branding, uniquely quirky tone and killer product helped capture a market niche and the platform today serves companies such as Boston Scientific, Penguin Random House, Continental and Preligens.

Professional Experience

Valohai’20 - ’24

Valohai is an MLOps platform that brings everything data science teams need to develop and deploy AI capabilities under a single platform. The platform is used by ML pioneers across industries, including Boston Scientific, Continental, PenguinRandomHouse and Vaisala.

In 2023, our focus was scaling the development team and product-led growth (PLG). I worked with sales, customer success, engineering and our clients to build and execute a roadmap that strikes a balance between PLG and emerging client needs.

Notable achievements:

  • Started a product-led growth motion at Valohai.
  • Launched a trial flow enabling new users to sign up and test the platform independently. Our focus was on improving the new user experience.
  • Launched the Valohai ecosystem enabling easy integrations with popular data science technologies, such as Hugging Face and Snowflake.
  • Produced content, such as templates, blog posts and videos, about LLMs and how Valohai fits into the evolving LLMOps landscape.

I joined Valohai right at the start of the epidemic and was tasked with leading the growth team and shifting the go-to-market strategy from offline events to online. I’ve worked on everything from setting company strategy and running OKRs to building landing pages and writing content.

Notable achievements:

  • Led a team of 4 to build a consistent marketing funnel that helped us triple our revenue and pass $1M in ARR in 2021. Today, Valohai is used by deep technology startups like Preligens & Onc AI as well as Fortune 500 companies like Continental and Boston Scientific.
  • Built processes to convert leads to demo bookings, including building out marketing automation and establishing an SDR function. Scaled demo meetings up to 100+ per quarter.
  • Worked with the sales team to improve handovers and unify processes. Owned the CRM data, workflows and reporting.
  • Produced expert content that has been downloaded by over 15K readers and is repeatedly cited in industry presentations.
  • Worked with an industry-leading branding agency (Atreo) to refresh the Valohai brand and oversaw the implementation.

Quest’18 - ’20

Quest Analytics bridges the information gap between regulators, health plans, and providers and helps build provider networks that provide great care. Quest Analytics’ product suite is used by 400 organizations, including all eight of the nation’s largest health plans.

During my time at Quest Analytics, I worked on both the provider and health plan products as product manager and designer. I also contributed to the rebranding after the merger with BetterDoctor and managed the implementation of the new brand.

Notable achievements:

  • Defined how to automate outreach to medical providers nationwide.
  • Led the design of our provider product and defined the roadmap for it.
  • Designed new data accuracy capabilities to the health plan product.
  • Contributed to the rebranding of Quest Analytics and designed how the rebrand would be applied to existing products.
  • Designed the look and feel of company events such as the yearly user conference.

BD’16 - ’19

BetterDoctor solves the problem of inaccurate provider information. BetterDoctor and its provider data validation product merged with Quest Analytics in 2018.

I joined during a critical phase when the company pivoted from the consumer side of the problem to the data side. We built a platform that is used to contact providers across the US and verify their information for multiple health plans. My contributions range from defining product features to delivering pixel-perfect designs (and even occasionally pushing some code) for both internal and external applications.

Notable achievements:

  • Designed a data verification application used by over a hundred thousand providers across the US to keep their information up-to-date with health plans.
  • Designed business intelligence dashboards for running outreach operations and reporting to health plan clients (and learned SQL and LookML on the way).
  • Designed and developed BetterDoctor’s website.

Vaadin’14 - ’16

Vaadin is a technology company that offers developer tools for building user interfaces. Specializing in progressive web apps, Vaadin’s frameworks enable developers to craft high-quality, engaging web applications using Java.

I worked within the marketing team which builds and maintains the community around both the free and commercial tools. My main contributions were in providing better experiences for the community members and promoting new commercial offerings.

Notable achievements:

  • Redesigned the Vaadin add-on directory, blog and other website features.
  • Worked with different product and service teams to design and launch their offerings on Vaadin.com.

Anders’09 - ’13

Anders Inno is a software consultancy based in Finland that specializes in delivering custom software solutions with a focus on ecommerce.

I was the first designer to join the company and had various roles in both internal and client projects. During this time, the company client base grew quickly and design became a critical part of the services provided.

Notable achievements:

  • Worked directly with clients on different design projects, ranging from e-commerce sites to mobile applications.
  • Designed user interfaces for several internal products, including an invoicing application used by SMEs across Finland and later sold to Visma.
  • Built the visual identity of Anders Inno in 2010.
